Homer Simpson Up for a Long Run


The Simpsons is set to become the longest running prime-time show in US television history, after Fox ordered another two seasons.

Currently in its 20th season, the show was first broadcast in 1989. The 22nd season is scheduled for 2010. The previous record was that of Western drama series, Gunsmoke. By the end of the scheduled run, a total of 493 episodes will have been made.

Sky 1 will broadcast a premiere of an episode of The Simpsons in Great Britain for the first time, on 17th March. A St. Patrick's Day special called: In the Name of the Grandfather.
