Hamleys will begin a temporary shut-down of its UK stores today (19th March 2020) at 7pm in response to the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The company will continue to sell direct to the public via its website. Hamleys also intend to its airport stores open.
In a statement posted online, the company said: “These are trying times and our priority remains the safety and well-being of our valued customers and staff. “We will be temporarily pausing all [except airports] store operations across UK from 19 March, 19:00 but it doesn’t mean we will stop putting the smile back where it belongs. Our digital shop www.hamleys.com and social pages will offer regular treats.”
Other famous retailers in London, including LEGO, Disney Store and Selfridges have already closed its doors to the public.
