COVID-19: Selfridges Closes Its Stores After Three Staff Members Test Positive for Coronavirus

Selfridges will temporarily close all its stores until further notice after the company confirmed three members of staff had tested positive for coronavirus.

The company had planned to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by reducing its opening hours, however, a petition among staff demanding closure received 4,000 signatures.

There are four Selfridges department stores in the UK, one in London, one in Birmingham and two in Manchester.

The company will continue to trade online.

In a message posted on Twitter stated: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our customers and team members is our utmost priority. We must do the right thing by the communities in which we live and work to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus.

“It is with a heavy heart that tonight we have made the decision to temporarily close our four physical stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester from 7pm tomorrow evening.

“We will continue to serve our global customers through Selfridges.com and across our social channels until we can open our doors again”
