A LEGO construction toy based on part of the television studio set for The Big Bang Theory will be in the shops this August.
The original design for this model was submitted to the LEGO Ideas website (née Cuusoo) by fans with the online users names of Alatariel and GlenBricker. Alatariel previously designed the popular #008 Research Institute (21110) set, that aimed to re-address the balance between employed males and female in the imaginary world of LEGO by producing a set of women scientists in minifigure form. GlenBricker is a well-known contributor on LEGO Ideas, having designed and help promote several models on the website.
Professional model designer Steen Sig Andersen and graphic designer Mathew Boyle prepared the design for final production, trying to stay faithful to the original submission and collaborating with television programme’s licensing partners.

The 479 piece set replicates Leonard and Sheldon’s living room and includes minifigures of all seven main characters from the show : Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy and Bernadette.
LEGO Ideas #010 The Big Bang Theory is available from 1 August 2015, the expected price is £44.99 ($59.99 US or EUR 59,99).
